Tourism Business Investment Partnership Strategy 2007 Workshops

Sponsored by CanadaFedNor

These workshops focused on Tourism Business Investment. Attendees took away a clear list of items that need to be done to:

  • Understand their product - What are the local gaps in the tourism product? What opportunities exist and how do we determine which will help the local economy the most?
  • Determine the feasibility of tourism investment opportunities in their communities - What opportunities are really feasible? Is that abandoned ski hill or marina one that can be turned into a goldmine? Is there really demand for a new hotel or conference centre?
  • Become ‘investment ready’ and competitive - What do investors expect from the municipality? What are the characteristics of successful investment attraction initiatives?
  • Create and implement a successful marketing strategy - Once we know that we have a product to sell how do we do it? What resources (time and money) are required? How do we get noticed?
