Tervita Brings Environmental and Energy Services to Port Hope’s IDEAHUB

PORT HOPE, ON – The Municipality of Port Hope welcomes Tervita as the latest tenant to join Port Hope’s IDEAHUB. A leading North American environmental and energy services company, Tervita has the industry's most comprehensive array of environmental and waste management solutions and services. Offers range from decommissioning and demolishing of a corner gas station to decontaminating drug labs to supporting the resource sector from development to reclamation. In Ontario, Tervita specializes in many services relevant to current needs in the Port Hope area as well as anticipated future needs.

Deputy Mayor Jeff Gilmer, member of the Business Incubator Management Advisory Committee (BIMAC), sees strong potential for Tervita to develop in Port Hope, “Environmental and energy services are growth industries and well aligned with Port Hope’s economic development goals. Tervita is an excellent addition to the IDEAHUB and to our community.”

Though not a new business, Tervita was qualified by BIMAC for a short term lease as the firm explores the opportunity to position themselves for expansion into Eastern Ontario from a Port Hope venue. Director of Economic Development Judy Selvig stated, “IDEAHUB has attracted interest from many firms in Southwestern Ontario who want to explore business expansion into the Eastern Ontario market. IDEAHUB is the perfect venue to introduce the attributes of our community and we welcome the opportunity to provide support to companies like Tervita as they work to establish a more permanent presence in Port Hope.”

"Tervita welcomes the opportunity to join the Port Hope business community and work alongside other talented organizations," says Gregory Campbell, President, integrated solutions. "As one of North America's leading environmental and energy service companies, Tervita sees great opportunities in Port Hope and we look forward contributing to this community and others as we expand across Ontario."

IDEAHUB, launched in 2010, is a business incubator offering flexible space to new business startups at a reduced rate along with a variety of services including business mentoring, marketing, legal, financial, and administrative support. Located at 260 Peter Street in a 22,000 sq. ft, privately owned facility, the centre enables start up businesses to increase their chance of success by reducing the time and cost of establishing and growing a business.
