The Ontario East Logistics Marketing Team will be exhibiting at Supply Chain Canada – a major two day supply chain industry conference and tradeshow put on by the Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Canada (SCL) and the Canadian Industrial Transportation Association (CITA).
The effort is aimed at raising the profile of Eastern Ontario to leading Canadian manufacturers, retailers, transportation companies and third-party logistics (3PL) firms.
2012 marks the 45th time the event has been held, and this year the conference and tradeshow is taking place in Toronto at the International Centre May 8-9, 2012.
"Supply Chain Canada offers delegates an unparalleled networking opportunity, while providing industry knowledge to meet the challenges of today's complex supply chain networks," says Bob Armstrong, SCL President.
"The 2011 event drew a larger number of delegates and trade show visitors than ever before and three times as many exhibitors as in the previous year. This is the premier conference and trade show bringing together supply chain, logistics, and transportation practitioners from across the country," says Bob Ballantyne, President of CITA.
The Ontario East Logistics team is attempting to leverage existing activity in the supply chain sector in Eastern Ontario to attract new investment. The region is home to major distribution centres for Walmart, Sears, Shoppers Drug Mart and Tim Horton’s, amongst many others. Target is currently building a new 1.3 million sq.ft. distribution centre in Cornwall and numerous transportation companies are growing in size throughout the region to accommodate increased activity. St. Lawrence College is currently studying the feasibility of establishing a Logistics Centre of Excellence in the region as well.
The Ontario East Logistics Marketing Team is made up of the following municipalities:
· City of Brockville
· City of Cornwall
· County of Lennox and Addington
· County of Northumberland
· Bay of Quinte Region
· United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry
The effort will be multi-faceted and will involve exhibiting and meeting with companies in attendance at the show. As part of this effort, a comprehensive directory of logistics companies in Eastern Ontario will be distributed at the show.
The Ontario East Logistics Marketing Team is funded in part by the Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) and the Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF). Additional funding comes from the sector municipal partners.
