A summary of grants and leveraged investment and employment from the four years of programming under the Provincial Eastern Ontario Development Fund
The City of Brockville has generated some positive impacts associated with the incentive offerings of the $80 million EODF program which was initiated almost four years ago for the purpose of stimulated new and expanded investment for Eastern Ontario's manufacturing sector.
The program provided $2.9 million of grant funding to four projects levering $18.8 million in new plant investment and creating 67 permanent positions.
EODF funded three Brockville manufacturing firms being Northern Cables, Trillium Healthcare and Burnbrae Farms, as well as one public application being a partnership with the City of Brockville and St. Lawrence College.
The current program will sunset in March 2012 with approximately $28 million as the balance in the fund. Brockville still has one manufacturing application still in process for both new investment and up to seven years of sustainable employment for over 10 new positions based on a US based contract.
In terms of the announcement for continuing the EODF, the bill is currently in the second reading and debate stage towards making the fund permanent.
