Kingston, ON: Anchor Concrete Products Ltd. has received first place in the Creative Use of Precast Award presented by the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA).
The award recognizes Anchor Concrete for their participation in the 2011 Bombardier Monorail Test Track project built for and assembled at the Bombardier Kingston Plant in Millhaven, ON. Anchor Concrete supported the project by designing, building, 166 reinforced concrete beams measuring a total of 1.8km (1.25 miles). The beam structures consisted of segments of curves, super elevated curves, and vertical gradients which had to have extremely tight tolerances in terms of manufacturing and installation. The beams will be used as the foundation for testing trains designed for monorail projects destined for Brazil, Saudi Arabia and other locations.
Jeff Bradfield, President of Anchor Concrete Products Ltd. commented, “This particular project was tremendously complex in terms of design, mould manufacturing, production and installation. The design itself with tight horizontal and vertical dimensional tolerances as well as elevated slow and super elevated high speed curves proved to be predominantly difficult but we knew we had the core capability to achieve what the client wanted.”

Anchor Concrete Products Ltd. was recently recognized at a gathering of esteemed industry leaders from the precast concrete sector at a special luncheon in Orlando, Florida on March 1.
